Saskatchewan contains two major natural regions the Boreal Forest in the north and the Prairies in the south.

Inhabited for thousands of years by various indigenous groups of North America.

Europeans first explored the area in 1690 by Henry Kelsey who traveled up the Saskatchewan River in hopes of trading fur with the indigenous peoples.

The first permanent European settlement was a Hudson's Bay Company post at Cumberland House which was founded in 1774 by Samuel Hearne.

Saskatchewan's economy is mainly associated with agriculture with wheat being the main product.

Mining is also a major industry with it being the world's largest exporter of potash and uranium.

Oil and natural gas production is also a very important part of Saskatchewan's economy.
