The Haptic Controller is an interface for a new generation of game-based applications that require higher user interactivity and realistic control. It consists of a small spring, bimanually manipulated, that provides force feedback, handgrip measurement, 3D spatial motion, and visual-gestural feedback.

Haptic Force Feedback
Manipulation of the spring as the user moves the handles, generates haptic force feedback, and provides the physical experience of holding, rotating and moving objects


Spatial Manipulation: Rotational Motion
Objects can be freely rotated in three spatial axes (pitch, roll and yaw).
Handles can be moved in tandem or independently. When moved independently two separate sets of 3D motion can be applied to different objects, game-characters, etc.


Extra DOF – Rotational motion can be combined with spring compression and expansion


Gestural-Visual Feedback
Bimanual spring manipulation articulates movement in space and creates meta-gestural motion from a combination of four basic actions: Compression/Expansion; Bending; Torsion; Shaking
