Описание к видео MODIFIED CAR MYTHS vs THE DEVON CORNWALL POLICE | BIG TURBOS, DRUGS & MORE!

In today’s video, we take another look into some of the most commonly asked questions in regards to modifying your car and more specifically the UK road law.

Joined by MPS Owen Messenger ( a keen car fanatic himself - message attached below ) we dive into some seriously hot topics such as flamer kits, big turbos, declaring modifications, drink & drugs and much more.

A huge big thanks to Owen Messenger for getting involved and answering everyone's questions.

Big plans for future videos so don't forget to subscribe to be kept up to date with new videos.

Lights - please note where it says ‘anything that looks like a blue flashing light’. If for example you have blue fog light covers and are driving along a bumpy road this could look like a blue flashing light.

S4 Road Traffic Act - unfit to drive through drink or drugs. This offence does not require a limit. The safest way is to not drink at all. When investigating unfit through drugs we look for a vast number of drugs in bloods, not just cannabis and cocaine.

Construction and Use - Exhausts
Exhaust gases from an external wastegate must be routed back into the exhaust system BEFORE the catalytic converter if one is required to pass the emissions test.

MoT - Exhausts
Please see 8.1 and 8.2 for MoT regs.

A short message from Owen.

Wow, such an amazing response to the first two videos, thank you, we never expected this. Thank you also to those who left constructive comments or questions, I do try and read them all. I will try and answer as many as I can but we only have time for so many. We can’t cover every make or model of vehicle. For instance, if your car didn’t have a catalytic converter from the factory, clearly it won’t need one now.

What George and I are trying to do is give you information and advice around what you can and can’t do to your car. The legislation/law is complex sometimes and things like the Flamer Kit Act or Screamer Pipe Act don’t actually exist but are covered under the Construction and Use Legislation and/or the MoT Manual in some way with regards to exhausts. I have tried to keep things as simple as possible for you to make it as clear as I can. We could argue all day about semantics or whether we agree with it or not but the fact remains that it is there so we have to comply with it.

We are doing this to try and help you make the right decisions on what you do to your car. This isn’t a PR exercise or about persecuting modified car enthusiasts, it’s about making you aware of why sometimes we have to deal with issues and what you can do to help avoid yourselves getting stopped or in trouble.
As in many walks of life, it is the minority that let down the majority. You asked why the car scene was frowned upon and a lot of the time it is because of the behaviour of the minority spoiling it for everyone. If people not into the car scene see modified cars being driven poorly then they see the whole scene as a problem. There is a place for doing wheelspins and doughnuts or driving at speed but it’s not on the public roads. Race the track, not the road if you want to see what your car can do. Motorsport is dangerous but the track at least limits that risk to an extent.

Unfortunately, we do have to go and clear up when things go wrong which happens a lot more than you think or people will tell you. It’s something that I hope you will never experience. It is also why we are passionate about reducing casualties on the road. Sometimes enforcement is our only option but we are under no incentive either financially or performance-wise to issue tickets. We don’t make the laws but we are obliged to enforce them as we have a duty of care to the public.

Stay safe and I hope you enjoy the video.
