Joe & Mac (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео Joe & Mac (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Takara's 1993 action-platformer for the Sega Genesis, Joe & Mac.

This video shows two different runs through the game in order to show all of the stages. The first shows the A-paths taken, while the second, beginning at 16:32, shows the B-path stages. Finally, since the game has three different endings, I show the last one at 32:45.

Data East's 1991 arcade game Caveman Ninja (   • Caveman Ninja (Wii) Playthrough - Nin...   ) appeared on most of the popular early 90s gaming machines, though these conversions differed quite a bit from one another. The SNES game (   • Joe & Mac (SNES) Playthrough - Ninten...   ) was a sort of remix of the original, while the Genesis version was more of a direct conversion of the arcade original. (As far as I'm concerned, the less said about the NES and Game Boy games, the better.)

The stage layouts directly mirror those of the coin-op, the controls feel pretty much the same between them, and it retains the weapon charge mechanic that was cut from the Super Nintendo game. It also retains much of the original game's challenge - this one requires a fair bit of practice and memorization to get through. The last boss is particularly brutal.

The graphics lack the color of the arcade and SNES games, but they remain quite faithful to their source material. The bosses are huge, and there are lot of cool little animation flourishes throughout, like how the cavemen burst out of bushes to surprise you, or how they run in fear if they miss their attack. The tropical music all sounds great playing through the Genesis's FM synth, too.

While I overall prefer the SNES game, Joe & Mac on the Genesis is an excellent conversion of the fondly remembered arcade game, and it's one that any platformer fan will likely enjoy quite a bit.
