Leroy Johnson | "You Give Me Words" | Boneyard Sessions

Описание к видео Leroy Johnson | "You Give Me Words" | Boneyard Sessions

Leroy Johnson is a Barkindj / Malyangapa musician from western New South Wales. When he's not working as a ranger on Mutawintji National Park, he's writing and singing songs at campfires and under the stars.

He was one of the first musicians singing original songs that I came across when I moved back out west. His voice sounds like the wind and the dust and the rain that has shaped the country that is the centre of everything in his life.

Leroy has been joined on stage by many different musicians over the years, from Wilcannia’s local legends ‘The Black Shadows’ to more recently ‘The Waterbag Band’. On this day he was joined by Oliver Dear, a prolific and talented multi-instrumentalist in his own right. We battled wind and flies and ants and were victorious in a beautiful dry creek bed, just outside Broken Hill, on Wilyakali country.
