Batate Humman is a simple Konkani dish. This coconut based potato curry is commonly prepared days when you want to avoid onion and garlic dishes (on festivals or special occasions). The chopped potato is cooked and then simmered in a simple coconut masala. It is then finished off with a sprinkle of asafoetida (hing) and a little drizzle of coconut oil. Ingredients:
Potato - 3 (500g)
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Coconut oil - 2 tsp
Salt - To taste

For masala:
Grated coconut - 3/4 cup
Roasted red chilis - 4-5
Tamarind - small lemon sized
Water - As required
