サペルニコフ: 孤独, Sapellnikoff: Solitude, (Published in 1909), Piano: 白石 准 Jun Shiraishi

ウクライナ生まれの作曲家、ピアニストの、ワシリー･サペルニコフ (1867 - 1941)の作曲した、“孤独”を弾きました。

サペルニコフは、リャードフの弟子でもあり、チャイコフスキーとは親交もあって、ハンブルクやロンドンで、チャイコフスキーのピアノ協奏曲第1番の初演の独奏者も務めて、ピアニストとしても有名になったようです。

この曲もピアニストならではの、「難しいけれども無理がない」音符の並び方をしていて、とても詩情に富んだ名曲だと思いました。
冒頭のロマンティックな和声の進行と、中間辺りで物凄く情熱的に盛り上がって行くところが大好きです。

生まれた時はロシアだった現ウクライナのオデーサから、ドイツに移住しましたが、再びオデーサに戻ったものの、ソ連になってからはドイツに亡命し、晩年はイタリアに住んで、サンレモで亡くなりました。

I played "Solitude" by Vassily L'vovich Sapelnikov (Wassily Sapellnikoff, Василий Львович Сапельников, 1867 - 1941), a Ukrainian-born composer and pianist.

Sapelnikov was a pupil of Lyadov and a friend of Tchaikovsky's. He was a soloist at the premieres of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in Hamburg and London, and became famous as a pianist as well.

I thought this piece was also a very poetic masterpiece with a "difficult but not unreasonable" sequence of notes, as only a pianist can do.
I love the romantic harmonic progression at the beginning and the passionate build-up in the middle.

He emigrated from Odessa, now Ukraine, which was Russia when he was born, to Germany, but returned to Odessa again, but after the Soviet Union became a Soviet state, he defected to Germany, and in his later years lived in Italy, where he died in Sanremo.
