What is a Waterjet?

A Waterjet is an industrial tool used for cutting a variety of material.

Depending on the material being cut a water jet uses
a high pressure stream of water or a mix of high pressure
water and abraisives.

Water jetting is used in precision applications and when
high heat from other cutting technologies can affect the
the product being produced.

Depending on the waterjet, material ranging from Tungsten to Foam can be cut.

Some waterjets are capable of cutting at multiple axis which allows for 3D product creation

The majority of Waterjets run by Computer Numerical Controls (CNC). Which automates the waterjet through pre-programed sequences.

Most items produced are first designed the CAD (computer-aided design) software and then translated into sequences for manufacturing through CAM(computer-aided manufacturing) software.

The sequences are then transformed into commands necessary for the waterjet to produce the component.

The commands are then loaded into the CNC machine where the product is manufactured virtually hands-free.
