The Star of Frozen Bethlehem

Wind whipping winter road
Night silent, unholy state road,
flowing snow, white wistful innocent glow
fog lights glisten, rose tinted cold steel chrome.

Four wheel drives bite, search, glide
digging up slush, almost take flight
lone cabin dimly lit, headlights on window slits
spot a lone man's silvered silhouette.

Rifles ready, heavy piercing bullets
masks down, fogging goggled helmets
laser sights spotting frosted solid siding.
Aiming, centered, on figure, easy target.

Cracking barrels bursting glass
followers falling, wounded, bleeding
screaming, scratching floorboards splintering
lone person weeping, standing hands seeping.

Concentrated gunfire gutting, shredding
arms outstretched, reaching pleading
pity pursed on lips of mercy still standing!
behind shattered window framing.

Tables turning, men inturn,
single minded, souls empty,
watch mercy fade, eyes dry,
picture window figure flaming.

Licking lively flames rage,
ripping all outside asunder
house disintegrated, teeth clenched,
eyes burning, hands still bleeding.

The spell unraveled, spirit reborn roaring,
Lion dividing attackers, pieces of their glory
earthly skin melting, bones brittle, brains boiling,
souls separated, cast out, drifting.

Raging, storming, tearing, pushing,
regarding gifts poorly given,
taking it all back
from blasphemous martyrs.

As it begins, it is over. Silent now, warmer,
Taking hands of fallen people
floor boards wet with melted waters
wounds healed of sons, daughters.

New day dawning, miles of green forest blooming
no more running, no weakness, no hiding
standing tall in armor of rags and emotion,
for first fallen brothers, in this, second coming....
