Mele ma ka Mauna | Hāwane Rios: “Warrior Rising”

The highlight song of the Maunakea concert was the original composition “Warrior Rising” by Hāwane Rios featuring Lākea Trask.

ʻŌiwi TV presents “Mele ma ka Mauna”, an original series celebrating the unique movement and Kapu Aloha around the Thirty Meter Telescope construction on Mauna a Wākea. Set up at Hale Pōhaku on Mauna Kea, Mele ma ka Mauna brings together musicians and artists from all over Hawaiʻi pae ʻāina performing traditional mele ʻai pōhaku, or songs of sovereignty, alongside new original compositions. These performances were shot live, and were done with aloha ʻāina sentiments. Each group brought their songs and hula with intentions of celebrating the invaluable resources that Mauna Kea offers the people of Hawaiʻi.
