A drought-stricken farmer in the South Australian Mallee region is skipping meals and has stopped taking mental health medication to ensure there is enough money to put food on the table for her husband and children.

Financial woes have also forced Nerissa Forster, 42, to remove her daughters from the local netball team as the family attempts to make ends meet during one of the worst droughts in state history.
