What Do Red And Blue Colors Mean? Color & Spectral Doppler Ultrasound Interpretation | USG Physics

Red - Indicates blood flow moving towards the ultrasound probe.
Blue - Indicates blood flow moving away from the probe.
Faster blood flow results in a brighter color.
Turbulent or irregular blood flow can also affect the brightness and appearance of the colors on the display.
Blue Color Flow (Below the Baseline): Blood flow displayed below the baseline indicates blood flow moving away from the ultrasound probe. This is often represented in blue.
Red Color Flow (Above the Baseline): When the blood flow is displayed above the baseline in spectral Doppler, it indicates blood flow towards the ultrasound probe. This is typically shown in red.
