Tech Talk From The CD Producer... Jerry Goldsmith's score for The Shadow is one of his longest. As such, this premiere presentation of the complete score represents one of the most substantial restorations of a Goldsmith soundtrack ever, illuminated by the fact that just 30 minutes of the full 85-minute score appeared on the original 1994 soundtrack album.

To present this dynamic work in full, we were given access to the entire vault of original 48-track digital session elements plus the multi-track film mixes and live two-track session mixes and remixes made by Bruce Botnick after the recording sessions were held, all courtesy of Universal Studios. With everything in hand, a complete restoration was launched, climaxed by our discovery of an entire alternate final showdown sequence ("The Mirrors") that has never been heard beyond those original recording sessions.

We also are including the source cues recorded at the scoring sessions as well as the entire original soundtrack album, which, in addition to the aforementioned 30 minutes of score, also features the sensational "Original Sin (Theme From The Shadow)," performed by Taylor Dayne.
This is an important score from Goldsmith, with thrilling action music, dark and dramatic motifs, cues on an epic scale and, at the center, a very tender love theme. However, towering above all is the powerful, wide-interval main theme, often heard in French horns, a vibrant theme made all the more crisp and dynamic courtesy the recording talents of Goldsmith's longtime mixer Bruce Botnick. So sit back and enjoy all of... well... who knows?
