Описание к видео Pilot Survives Ejection at 17,000 Feet

This is the incredible true story of one of aviation's most miraculous survivals that sounds too unbelievable to be real.

On June 10, 1990, British Airways Flight 5390 was flying at 17,000 feet when disaster struck in the most terrifying way imaginable. The cockpit windscreen suddenly blew out, creating explosive decompression that instantly sucked Captain Tim Lancaster halfway out of the aircraft.

Picture this: Lancaster's entire upper body was outside the plane, being battered by 300 mph winds while his legs dangled helplessly inside the cockpit. The crew could have easily assumed he was gone and focused solely on landing the plane safely.

But they didn't give up.

Flight attendant Nigel Ogden and others grabbed onto Lancaster's ankles and held on with everything they had during a harrowing 20-minute emergency descent. His body was being pummeled against the aircraft's exterior in freezing temperatures, and everyone feared the worst.

When they finally landed at Southampton Airport and pulled him back inside, the impossible had happened - Captain Lancaster was still alive. Despite severe frostbite, multiple injuries, and being exposed to extreme conditions at high altitude, he had somehow survived.

Even more remarkably, Lancaster made a complete recovery and returned to flying just five months later, proving that sometimes the human spirit and quick thinking can overcome the most impossible odds.

This story shows the incredible bravery of airline crews and reminds us why aviation safety protocols exist - and what can happen when they're put to the ultimate test.
