Some employers in Singapore might be abusing the criminal justice system against migrant domestic workers. A report by local migrant worker rights group HOME suggests these employers make police reports against their workers not because an actual crime has been committed, but rather, to retaliate against them for terminating their employment. The report revealed four in five police reports made against a domestic worker do not lead to a criminal charge. Of these, the most common accusation is theft.
