1956 Triumph T110 Tiger Pre Unit - still running rich.
The effort continues regarding the bike running rich..

Have now changed the main jet to the standard Amal 250. It was a 290.

The bike starts up just great with one kick from cold. The Amal Monoboloc 376/40 has the air screw set to factory specifications (i.e. 2.5 turns out) and the needle jet is a .106

The tapered jet needle is actually set at the highest groove position #1, so it should be really lean. But as you can see, both pipes are smoking quite a lot despite turning the air screw out up 5 turns in an effort to weaken the mixture. I have a sneaky feeling that it is the filter element in the Volks air filter that may be suffocating the carburetter, so that's the next easy job.

I'll remove the filter altogether and then if that doesn't work will try a short velocity stack instead of the stock rubber filter hose and air-filter arrangement.

If that doesn't work, it starts to get a bit more complicated. Could possibly be the timing that is out, or the float is sitting too high and flooding the chamber a little. Any suggestions would be most appreciated..

Cheers
Mike
