We have found hundreds of Burmese pythons throughout the everglades, however we have only found a couple morphs. This morph occurs from a breeding population in the Everglades, this was not a released pet. Also when we say "Everglades" we are referring to the entire region south of Lake Okeechobee that was once historically everglades. Burmese pythons are an invasive species introduced to the everglades, they are native to asian and not Florida. Unfortunately they compete with native wildlife and like all invasive species it's important to remove them from the ecosystem.
