This week's parkrun story comes from Conyngham Hall in Knaresborough, a slightly tough run but a great one too.

This was my first time running here and I was a little apprehensive as I'd been warned to expect a few tough hills, but after Otley Chevin last week (plus some proper training) it was a little quicker than I had anticipated. It's a two lap route which leads you around the games field at Conyngham Hall, then you go past the farm ruins before finishing a trail loop around Foxwood and Horseshoe Field. After that, you do the same route again. Basically, unless you plan on winning it then just follow someone in front. It's a mix of tarmac, mud and grass so in bad weather it'll be a lot tricker. There's street parking nearby and a public car park (paid) right next to it too. PLUS there's a coffee shop onsite.

On to the race, I am currently training for a few 10k races so felt a lot better today and was a lot quicker than I thought I would be, official time 25:53 - I even managed to be in the top 10 for my age category too, so all in all it was a good day.

A little about me. I have been running, or taking it seriously, for about 18 months now. The aim really was to aid with my mental health and I must admit I am loving it. Since turning 40 I have found myself doing more Parkruns, more medal races and more walks so I decided to buy a GoPro, along with a Garmin watch, and record them and make them into a YouTube video(s). I don't plan to commentate on them, it's more to give folk an idea of what the course is like beforehand. Hopefully, these videos will also give you some parkrun ideas.
