In this video, I discuss the differences between using plant oils and animal fats, and why it's important to completely avoid seed oils. Olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil are acceptable because they aren't extracted from the seeds of plants; instead, they are cold-pressed from the flesh of these fruits. These oils contain plant sterols.
When we consume animal fats such as ghee, butter, bacon fat, chicken schmaltz, and beef tallow, we primarily get saturated fats, which provide us with cholesterol rather than plant sterols. Our bodies recognize and utilize animal sterols more efficiently than plant sterols. Healthy cholesterol is vital for our skin cells, hormone production, bile, vitamin D, cell membranes, and myelin sheaths. Animal fats help stimulate the production of this beneficial cholesterol.
Therefore, I recommend permanently avoiding seed oils. Although coconut, olive, and avocado oils are acceptable, they are still plant-derived. It’s best to focus on healthy, mostly saturated animal fats, as these are optimal for the human body!
