Kathleen Folbigg speaks from behind bars about her fight for freedom | Australian Story

Once dubbed Australia’s worst female serial killer, Kathleen Folbigg has now been acquitted of killing her four children after a decade-long campaign by friends, lawyers and scientists.

Folbigg has always claimed her innocence. Australian Story has followed the twists and turns of her story since she was convicted of three counts of murder and one of manslaughter in 2003. In 2004, in a two-part series, we spoke with the two detectives who investigated her case and with Folbigg’s friends and family.

In 2018 Australian Story produced a program that helped kickstart the scientific research which ultimately freed her. The program also included the first interview with Folbigg from jail. After numerous appeals and two independent inquiries, the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal has acquitted her of all charges and cleared her name.
