How You Can Stop The Stigma Of Mental Illness | #StopTheStigma | Book Highlights
I was not aware of how insensitive the use of certain expressions popular in our culture can be toward those who are sufferers of mental illness. I'm as guilty as anyone in contributing to the problem. Here's how all of us can be part of the solution to #StopTheStigma.
This video is part of a series I'm developing on the topic of Mental Illness. I have loosely framed these discussions around a book that was released on May 4th entitled, We Can Do Better. It was written by Professor David Goldbloom from the University of Toronto. It's a remarkable book! Throughout this series, I will be developing the following themes: The evolution of the psychiatric industry, Socialized Mental Health Care, #StopTheStigma, #BellLetsTalk, ADHD, Improving Access via AI (Apps, Wearables, Affective Computing & Web-Based Tech), Short Term Treatment, Low Intensity Therapy, Homelessness, Addiction, Clinical Depression, Political Concerns, Safe Injection Sites, Corporate Mental Health Initiatives, Pharmacogenetics or Genetic Screening, Cutting Edge Medical Treatments, Pharmaceuticals, and so much more.
