What you need is a SCORING KNIFE - a hand tool made for cutting cement board - http://amzn.to/293hgR6

To cut you board, place if flat on a surface that you ar not afraid to damage - like old rug or carpet. Neve place cement board on Hardwoods

Mark your cut line - ideally, go 1/8" to 3/16" shorter than you need - otherwise you will have to trim the cement board after.

First make a slow dip cut into the board with scoring knife. Go slow to make sure you have a perfect straight line - use a guide such as 4' level or drywall square.

Make several passes. Then place a 2x4 wood under you cement board and break off the excess.
