a month or so ago, i bought a used tascam dr-05 recorder on ebay. when it arrived, i found a collection of over 200 recordings by the previous owner. from the snippets i heard through the speakers, it sounded fascinating.

i pulled the files from the recorder off of my pc and started to listen through, and after only a few tracks i was stunned at what i had chanced upon.

these recordings are some of the most impactful, emotional and interesting music i've ever heard. after hearing them, i knew i couldn't just keep them to myself, so i've formed them into this album.

whilst i have done some cutting, de-clicking and general tidying of the tracks and order, as well as all the naming, these recordings are presented practically as found. i take no credit for any of the music contained within this album, i just needed to share it.

the full story behind all this and the previous owner are unknown. as far as i can ascertain, and am willing to share (as there were some recordings excluded for privacy), much of this is traditional indian music, often utilising a drone. in fact, a fair few of the recordings are actually practiced scales; yet, i find them so captivating. mystery certainly works in its favour, though.
