The eyes are the sense organs responsible for the sense of sight, allowing us to perceive the visual world. Light enters the eye, is focused by the cornea and lens, and converted into electrical signals by photoreceptor cells in the retina. These signals are then transmitted to the brain via the optic nerve, where they are interpreted as images.


This practical focuses on the Eyes, the specialized sense organs responsible for vision. It explains how light enters the eye, is refracted by the cornea and lens, and then converted into electrical impulses by the retina’s photoreceptor cells. These signals travel via the optic nerve to the brain, where they are interpreted as images, enabling us to perceive the visual world.
Students will learn:


The anatomy of the eye and its major parts — cornea, lens, retina, iris, and optic nerve


The process of image formation and visual signal transmission


The role of photoreceptor cells (rods and cones) in vision


The concept of accommodation and light reflex


Common visual defects and their correction methods (myopia, hypermetropia, etc.)


This demonstration is presented by the Academic Staff of University of Technology | Deepshikha Kala Sansthan, as part of the Refresher Course Series to enhance practical learning for pharmacy students.
