The Sustainability Research and Innovation 2022 Congress unites more than 2000 global sustainability research leaders, government and civil society experts, funders and innovators to inspire action and promote a sustainability transformation. Sustainability is about our relationship with the future, and SRI2022 seeks to explore emerging issues and trends that shape our world tomorrow. In a time of rapid change, looking ahead is more important than ever. What are the challenges and solutions that might surprise us? How can we get ahead of the curve and build our preparedness and resilience? How to predict the unpredictable? Who are the new players and what are the unlikely coalitions?

To reflect around this questions the panel was organized on social innovation for Planetary Health from science to praxis.

Currently there are discoordinated practices in the world of that address transformations towards more desirable futures for our planet and species, and a growing attention on the scientific and academic sectors on praxis and how to best bridge science and praxis. The school of social innovation offers a good overarchichal definition and scope on how to approach and define the practitioners and their praxis, and Planetary Health incorporates and includes the relevant frameworks that define the current global context, and the means to approach the transformations required to maintain the planet in a safe operating space for humanity and other species. This dialogue is part of an incipient effort to reduce the aforementioned discoordination, to foster the development of a common language and culture for social innovation for Planetary Health, and set the basis for a vision of network collaboration. An initial dialogue has already been organized and hosted by the Planetary Health Alliance and co-sponsored by the Swedish Organization for Global Health; Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, Malaysia; Planetary & Global Health Program, St. Luke's Medical Center College of Medicine, Philippines; Planetary Health Philippines; and The Sustainability Laboratory. By offering a space for practitioners that approach their praxis through a transdisciplinary lens based in science, with practitioners from different cultural and geographical latitudes, this dialogue aims to showcase alternatives to marginal praxis that are successfully addressing in their localities the transformations towards more desirable futures for our planet and species.
