On our second day in Pune, after having breakfast at a local McDonald’s, my friend Sam and I met up with our new friend Aditya and headed out to explore the city, see some of the local sites and attractions, and indulge in some of the delicious and sugary sweets that help make Pune a must-visit destination for any food enthusiast. Come along with us as we explore the city!

Here are all of the places we visited and some of the different sweets we tried!

-Parvati Hill

We started our tour of Pune by making the steep climb up Parvati Hill, a hillock in the city that rises 2,100 feet above sea level. The climb was tough, especially after very little sleep, but it was so worth it. Parvati Hill is the second-highest point in Pune and offers a panoramic view of the entire city, but the main attractions there are the five Hindu temples that sit atop it: Devdeveshwar, Kartikeya, Vishnu, Vitthal, and Rama. Other noteworthy sites on the hill are the Peshwa Museum and an unfinished Buddhist cave on the hill’s southeast side.

-Fresh Coconut Water

One of the things I love about India is the street vendors who sell fresh coconuts and cut a small hole in them so you can drink the water inside. It’s super nutritious and hydrating, and is a cooling and refreshing treat on a hot day like this one!

Next, we headed to a candy shop called Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale to sample several local sweets. Here are some of the ones we tried:

-Bhākarwadi
-Kaju Katli
-Kaju Kesar Rolls
-Keshar Katli
-Badam Mewa

And finally, Sam and I finished off our day with a delicious Tandoori Chai served in clay pots. They were piping hot, but so delicious!

I hope you enjoyed this video of me and Sam exploring Pune and trying some of the local confections! If you did please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel for more awesome travel and food content!
