Behind the scenes: from marbles to mummies

Описание к видео Behind the scenes: from marbles to mummies

Every object in the British Museum, including everything you see on display, is cared for by a dedicated team of conservators and scientists. They work alongside curators and other staff to preserve and investigate over 8 million objects, promoting the latest scientific and curatorial research into the collection.

Since 2014 the conservators and scientists have been based in the Museum’s new state-of-the-art World Conservation and Exhibitions Centre. Conservators and scientists preserve the collection for present and future generations and bring history to life for a global audience, through a greater understanding of the materials and making of objects. Conservation and scientific research increases our knowledge about the meaning and context of objects in the collection.

Find out more about the work of conservators and scientists in this behind-the-scenes film.
