After an hour of searching, I finally saw her. The mother lay exhausted, barely breathing. Her tiny puppies were suckling on her frail, skinny body. It broke my heart into pieces. Some kind strangers had given her food and water. When she saw me, her eyes were full of pain and desperation. It was as if she was begging, “Please save my babies.” I gently took them all into my care. We hurried to the vet, hoping for a miracle. Now, they are safe with me. The mother’s fight to survive was for her little ones.
