In the first of our KNOW MORE Global Dialogue video interviews, join NO MORE in a conversation with guests from FORWARD and UN Women Nigeria that are carrying out transformative programmes to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) across Africa. The session aims to highlight the challenges and lessons learned from addressing all forms of GBV in Africa, and showcase the importance of young feminist leadership and strengthening African women’s voices in the movement to eliminate GBV.


Pamela Zaballa - CEO, The NO MORE Foundation

With more than 15 years of experience, Pamela has worked to support survivors of violence, as well as to prevent abuse and assault from occurring in the first place. Most recently, she served as the Director for Prevention of Domestic Abuse at Hestia where she created successful initiatives to utilize state-of-the-art technology to help victims and to engage corporations as partners in the effort to stop domestic and sexual violence, such as Bright Sky, Everyone’s Business and UK Says NO MORE. Currently, Pamela is the CEO of NO MORE, and a board member for the Employers Initiative Against Domestic Abuse as well as the Corporate Alliance Against Domestic Violence.

Naana Otoo-Oyortey MBE is a social activist and the Executive Director of FORWARD, the leading African diaspora women’s rights organisation in the UK working to end multiple forms of violence against women and girls including female genital mutilation (FGM). For over 30 years Naana has championed gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights of African women and girls at multiple levels. She is a passionate advocate for ending child marriage, child motherhood and nurturing young women’s leadership development and wellbeing.


Angela Muruli - Junior Programme Analyst, UN Women Nigeria Country Office

Angela Muruli is a Programme Analyst working on Women’s Political Empowerment in Nigeria. Her work in women’s rights began as a Youth Leader at FORWARD where under the Youth Speak Out programme, she launched ‘FGM: A Cut From Tradition’. She went on to lead on design and implementation of FORWARD’s flagship young women’s leadership programme targeted towards ending sexual and gender-based violence. During her tenure at FORWARD, Angela was instrumental in creating advocacy campaigns which amplified the voices of African and Caribbean women on issues of SGBV most notably curating the #MyBodyMyPower campaign which was recommissioned by the European Commission for exhibition at the 2018 European Development Days.
