When the disciples could ask Jesus to teach them anything, they asked this: “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).

Here’s why: Prayer is a declaration of war on this self-centered, self-sufficient, short-term kind of living. Prayer is the spinal column of your walk with God, deeply and inextricably connected to the way you walk.

When you think about the rhythms of your life, is prayer a priority? Have you prayed to ask God for your needs? For repentance? For your loved ones or your enemies? When you pray, you have the full attention of God, but first you have to know the power for the soul that lies in prayer.

Take up the challenge to rethink prayer, and stop 3x a day to sit, talk with, and listen to your Father.
