The 2024 housing industry has been off to a great start, especially compared to the 2023 market. We have more inventory on the market for buyers, and the rates have dipped a bit.

According to the National Association of Realtors, more buyers prefer to live with generations of family. Two of the top reasons for this type of purchase are aging parents and shared costs.

Twenty-seven percent of buyers chose multi-generational living to take
care of their parents, and nineteen percent moved to spend more time with them.

Another significant factor in buying a multi-generational home is sharing
costs to make owning a home more affordable. Sharing costs can benefit first-time home buyers who struggle with overall affordability.

Of course, this lifestyle may not be for everyone, and you must ensure this is something you want to do as a family before making an offer.

Looking for the perfect multi-generational home is trickier than finding a regular one. You have more people, so there are more needs to consider.
