The Resort - Horror Short Film

In this chilling short film, The Resort, a fun day at the pool takes a sinister turn. A kid is playing with other children at a resort pool when, suddenly, everyone mysteriously vanishes, leaving him alone. But is he really alone? As tension builds, a terrifying creature emerges in the water, leading to an eerie showdown. Will he make it out, or is it too late?

We shot The Resort in under an hour using a GoPro Hero 10 and a Potensic Drone. Despite the quick shoot and minimalist setup, we aimed to create a suspenseful and atmospheric horror experience that delivers a solid scare with simple tools. The compact GoPro allowed us to capture unique, close-up angles with crystal-clear quality both under water and above without the worry of drowning our camera. At the same time, the Potensic drone helped achieve those smooth, wide shots at the beginning, adding an expansive feel to the environment. Shooting in full sun gave us an easy-to-edit film that allowed us to bring down the contrast and brightness and add a LUT. This gave a beautiful and eerie feeling.

Behind the Scenes:
Filmed entirely on location at my house, in the backyard, this horror short was a spur-of-the-moment project. It showcases how, even with basic gear, you can create a compelling story. The GoPro Hero 10’s ability to capture underwater footage clearly was the only way I was willing to make a pool horror short underwater.
