Описание к видео Back to Work! Tips for Picking the Right ‘Second Act’ Career

It’s true what they say about being older and wiser.

If you’re starting a ‘second act’ career after years of having been there, done that in the office, there’s a secret you need to know.

People and the relationships you have with them can make a huge difference in choosing the right ‘second act’ career.

It’s an overlooked ingredient of career success and can make even boring jobs more fulfilling.

Take it from Rob Cross, a professor of global leadership at Babson College.

It’s important to talk about since more older Americans are getting back to work, according to NextAvenue.org, a news site for folks 50 and up.

I’m talking about a growing number of people who plan to work after 65.

The U.S. Labor Department says the percentage for people in that age bracket working or looking for jobs will jump from about 20% in 2018 to roughly 23% in 2028.

More pro tips from Rob Cross include picking a job that gives you purpose so you do better at it.

He also suggests that you don’t become a hermit and work on your own.

His research shows well-being is strongly linked to having meaningful relationships.

And don’t think you need to reinvent the wheel.

A contributor tells U.S. News & World Report many people repurpose and recycle their skills in new ways for a second act career.

Skills that can be morphed into a part-time or consulting role.

Another idea is to have your hobbies and other skills pay off.

If you’ve got the skills, teach music lessons, golf lessons, take wedding photos or even fix up houses.

It’s easy to make money from something you’d happily do for free.

That way, it won’t feel like work!
