Bellinzona (227 m ü. M.) ist eine Gemeinde und Hauptort des Kantons Tessin. Die nach Lugano zweitgrösste Stadt im Kanton liegt in der Talebene des Flusses Ticino am Fusse des Gotthardmassivs nahe der Grenze von Sopraceneri (nördliches Tessin) und Sottoceneri (Südtessin). Bei Bellinzona beginnt die Magadinoebene, die sich bis zum nördlichen Ende des Lago Maggiore ausdehnt.

Die mittelalterlichen Bauten von Bellinzona zählen zum Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO: die Wehrmauern, der Stadtkern und die Burgen Castelgrande, Castello di Montebello, Castello di Sasso Corbaro. Sie wurden mit den Wehrmauern von den Römern zur Verteidigung gegen die Alemannen errichtet und im Mittelalter erweitert. Das 1847 erbaute Teatro Sociale ist ein Beispiel für die Architektur des Klassizismus.

Sementina (224 m ü. M.) ist eine Gemeinde im Circolo del Ticino im Bezirk Bellinzona. Sie liegt westlich der Kantonshauptstadt Bellinzona in der Ebene des Ticino. Zur Gemeinde gehört die Fraktion Piancalardo. Nachbargemeinden sind Cugnasco, Giubiasco, Gudo und Monte Carasso. Der gleichnamige Fluss ist ein Zufluss des Ticino am Fusse des Cima del'Uomo (2'390 m ü. M.).

Bellinzona (227 m above sea level) is a municipality and the capital of the canton of Ticino. The second largest city in the canton (after Lugano) lies in the river valley of the Ticino River at the foot of the Saint-Gotthard Massif, close to the border of Sopraceneri (North Ticino) and Sottoceneri (South Ticino). The Magadino Plain, which extends all the way to the northern shores of Lake Maggiore, originates at Bellinzona.

The medieval buildings of Bellinzona are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the defensive walls, the city center, and the castles Castelgrande, Castello di Montebello, and Castello di Sasso Corbaro. Along with the defensive walls, they were built by the Romans for defense against the Alemanni and extended during the Middle Ages. The Teatro Sociale, built in 1847, is an example of Classicist architecture.

Sementina (224 m above sea level) is a municipality in the Circolo del Ticino in the district of Bellinzona. It lies west of the canton capital of Bellinzona in the Ticino Plain. The municipality includes the section of Piancalardo. Neighboring municipalities are Cugnasco, Giubiasco, Gudo and Monte Carasso. The river of the same name is a feeding river of the Ticino at the foot of the Cima del'Uomo (2,390 m above sea level).
