Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flood Risk Across Northern India: IMD Issues Alerts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of weather warnings as a depression over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and its neighboring regions intensifies and progresses north-northeastwards.

The depression is expected to maintain its intensity through today, with a gradual weakening anticipated from tomorrow, 13th September. The IMD has issued rainfall and flash flood warnings for several states:

Uttarakhand: Light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few locations and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated spots on the 12th and 13th September. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places on the 14th.

West Uttar Pradesh: Similar weather patterns are expected, with light to moderate rainfall across most areas, heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places, and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations today. Rainfall intensity will decrease slightly on the 13th, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated spots on the 14th.

East Uttar Pradesh: Light to moderate rainfall is anticipated at many places, with heavy rainfall at a few locations today, and at isolated places on the 13th and 14th September.

West Madhya Pradesh: Light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall over northwest Madhya Pradesh today. The rainfall will reduce to heavy at isolated places on the 13th and 14th.

East Madhya Pradesh: Light to moderate rainfall expected at most places, with heavy rainfall in some areas today, and isolated heavy rainfall on the 13th and 14th September.

East Rajasthan: Light to moderate rainfall likely at many places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations today. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places on the 14th September.

Haryana: Light to moderate rainfall is forecasted at most places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in south Haryana today. Heavy rainfall at isolated places is anticipated on the 13th and 14th September.
