Producer Tobias Andersson wants to establish first that Battlefield 1942 isnt really about World War II itself and does not try to simulate or mirror the environments and feelings of the soldiers who had to fight that terrible war. He and his development team at Digital Illusions used that war as the basis for their team-based first-person shooter because when you have to place a competition in a well-known scenario, its an obvious choice.
