The NIlsen FlashStick is a lightning trigger completely different to any you have seen before, offering excellent performance packed in a unique and stylish body, a self contained electronic unit based on the ATTINY microprocessor with custom code designed to catch the shots as quickly as the camera will allow.

Using 2 light dependant diodes which detect infrared light at around 960nm the trigger cycles 8000 times a second to check for changes in light levels and if one is detected the trigger will fire the camera using the supplied cable.

The ambient light level is constantly adjusted allowing unattended operation and will only trigger on spikes of light but with the additional sensitivity adjustment the trigger threshold can be set so that daytime lightning can also be captured as well as compensating for artificial lights such as streetlights which the trigger can see as "flashing" and could cause misfire.
The current sensitivity is shown with a pulses LED, the faster the LED pulses, the less sensitive the trigger currently is, a slow steady pulse indicates maximum sensitivity where even the smallest change will trigger the FlashStick to fire.

The trigger is magnetically attached to the battery pack which takes 4xAA batteries to seamlessly integrate with other products using this common battery size. This is attached to a hotshoe mount to create one beautiful unit which sits on top of your camera, the eye to catch the lightning.
