Red Pines Grown Like Corn Fields (Time for Harvest!)

Back out amongst the red pine trees today where I'm working my way through the harvest of thousands of red pine trees in an attempt to catch up on some forest thinning. This type of forest management helps to ensure the trees do not limit the growth of each other due to overpopulation and competition for resources. The trees that will remain in my forest after I remove a proportion of the forest trees will thrive due to the reduction in competition. I'm doing my part and sawing these logs to length just prior to being loaded up on the log loader trailer en route to my sawmill. Sure is nice to be able to take trees from my own land and make something useful from them in the form of lumber without having to go anywhere off site. Thanks for coming along for the journey today.
