This language lesson is designed for 3 to 6-year-old children. It guides the child with the sound of vowels when used in the middle of the two consonants.

What is a middle vowel sound?
A mid vowel (or a true-mid vowel) is a sound of a vowel produced when a vowel is positioned in the middle of a three-letter word or CVC words (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant). The defining characteristic of a mid vowel is that the tongue is positioned midway while pronouncing the CVC word.

Middle vowel sound can be a short vowel sound such as a, e, i, o, or u, or a long vowel sound such as ai, ee, igh, etc.

In this video, the child will learn the short vowel sound produced by middle vowels in CVC words.

Why is it important to learn middle vowel sounds?

As children learn to read and write, it is important for them to understand the middle short vowel sounds, as short vowels are difficult to feel in the mouth compared to consonant sounds making it trickier for children to hear and understand them.

Learning these differences in sounds will help increase reading comprehension and speaking skills.

In this video lesson, the child learns about the different sounds vowels make when placed in the middle of two letters. It uses cards with different words like b_b, p_g, to explain the concept. The vowels are placed in the blank spaces to help the child learn about the different sounds the vowels make when placed in between two letters.

Encourage the child to practice this concept with different English words and help them learn the middle sounds of the five vowels.
