Tsurinoya Dragon C602UL BFS Rod Review on the Water for Winter UL Crappies - Must have for Hair jigs. Hair jigs are the best for cold water fishing for crappies. The bite usually happen on the slow fall, so try using smaller jigs. 1/32 or 1/16th oz will do. This is a great alternative to float fishing, especially in shallow water. the Crappies will grab it and spit it out so quick, so having a sensitive rod such as this will be crucial. Although the specs rated this as a fast action rod, I feel that this does have a fast tip, but a moderate-fast bend from after the tip portion to the mid section. This allows you to cast light lures out as well as to keep those papermouth bass pinned as you reel them in.
