Your iPhone can send two different types of text messages.

The first message type will have a green bubble, and is sent to people that don’t have Apple devices or may have the iMesssage feature disabled on their device. This is a standard text message, or short message service message (SMS.)

The second message type has a blue message bubble, and can only be sent to people using other iOS Apple devices, who have the iMessage feature enabled. This message type is called an iMessage.

While the iMessage feature is typically enabled on an iPhone by default, it is possible for it to be turned off.

Luckily you can follow the steps in our guide to quickly re-enable it and start sending iMessages to your friends and family members again.
