There are many everyday items that may pose a potential risk to the safety of your pet, so let's take an inventory and remove anything that could possibly harm your new family member.

Clean up any children's toys, string, floss, coins, and any other small items or pieces of food that may be a choking hazard for your new pet. Puppies and kittens are incredibly curious; so don't leave anything within reach that may cause them harm. They also love anything that smells or makes noise. It's important to lock the lids of garbage containers, put latches on medicine cabinets, and remove any food from counters or tables.

It's very important to remove anything that could be poisonous or fatal to your pet's health. These include chocolate, sugar-free chewing gum, grapes, raisins, currants, caffeine products, fatty scraps, onion, garlic, chives, macadamia nuts, unbaked yeast bread dough, alcohol, and table salt.
