London System | Chess Openings Explained | Middlegame Plans and a Masterpiece

Описание к видео London System | Chess Openings Explained | Middlegame Plans and a Masterpiece

This time we are talking about the super popular London System. I’ve been playing it recently and I have to say this is actually a nice opening for White.
I played this game a couple of years ago. It was against a good friend and strong FM in an Official Tournament. In the video I analyze the plan I used as White and explain some interesting tactics, as well as some basics about London System.

In this link you can find on the board lines and interesting ideas about London System:

Defects and Virtues of London System

Defects:
Black has some way to get a more or less balanced game; probably the scheme with d5, c5 and Qb6 is good enough for them.

Virtues:
In general you can use some different approaches when you play it (more aggressive or more solid) depending on your style.
It’s more or less easy to learn and play.
You can avoid a lot of theory compared for example to Queen’s Gambit.
Especially as a surprise, it can be a very strong weapon in tournaments.
