A few weeks back, I went up for the day to the Colton area, for some railfanning with a few friends. We were waiting at Pepper Ave, for a CSX leader, leading a stack train to LATC. The locomotive which was leading, was CSXT #5107, not just any ordinary CSX locomotive! This unit, was the commemorative W. Thomas Rice Special locomotive.
However, this unit didn't take the Alhambra sub, like we originally thought. It was to take the LA Sub, via the Mount Vernon Connector track, which is located at the Colton Diamonds, and via the BNSF San Bernardino Sub to Riverside Junction. When we heard this, we raced over to Grand Terrace, where we saw it sitting, waiting for permission to enter the BNSF SB Sub, which Union Pacific has trackage rights for. We then re located to a hill, where we meet up with another friend, to see the train. I also included some shots of Union Pacific power moves, and stack trains at the Pepper Ave. overpass.
Thanks for Watching!
