PANEL 1

On the side lines of U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit, the partner organizations have put together a program with four sessions. The first session aims to advance US-Africa university partnerships across research, teaching, public engagement, and exchanges. The second session will discuss the role of digital technologies with a focus on their linkages to democracy, human rights, and civil society. The third session aims to enhance citizen diplomacy as a key pillar of U.S.-Africa’s state and non-state engagements including aspects such as people-to-people engagements, diaspora diplomacy, cultural diplomacy and digital diplomacy. The fourth session will be focused on the U.S. Business in Africa Awards (USBAA), a project inaugurated in October 2022 in Johannesburg whose main goal is to recognize and honour U.S. businesses making positive contributions to African economies.
