India is strengthening its defense capabilities across land, sea, and air through indigenous innovations in response to evolving regional threats. The Indian Navy is set to commission INS Arnala, the first of 16 ASW Shallow Water Crafts, to counter the increasing danger posed by enemy submarines, drones, and underwater vehicles in its vast coastal zones. Simultaneously, India has deployed the DRDO-developed D4 anti-drone system—a multi-layered, AI-powered laser defense network—against rising cross-border drone incursions, mainly from Pakistan. In a recent show of air power, India’s Operation Sindoor inflicted severe damage on Pakistan’s air defense systems, crippling vital command and surveillance assets and exposing Islamabad’s reliance on foreign defense suppliers. India also unveiled Akashteer, a unified real-time air defense command platform that integrates all military branches to defend against complex aerial threats, in contrast to Russia’s failed drone defense during Ukraine’s Operation Spider Web. Globally, indirect warfare is also shifting dynamics, as seen in Israel's controversial move to back local militias in Gaza to destabilize Hamas—an approach criticized for risking long-term instability and the rise of rogue factions. Collectively, these developments reflect a broader trend of nations adopting asymmetric, tech-driven, and proactive defense strategies in an increasingly volatile geopolitical landscape.
