I have a mechanical sound that I always thought to be cooling fan related (a cracked hub). I replaced the fan with a "new" used one which showed the smallest of cracks starting. Thought all was well as the sound was gone (very faint) with the engine cold.. After the engine was warm, the sound came back. : (
