Children come in all shapes and sizes, which can sometimes make it difficult to choose the right size.

We’d like to guide you through the measuring process, so that online shopping for your little one is quick and easy.

So, first, let's take a look at the size chart.

These numbers are related to the child's age in years, and these are their measurements in inches related to the labeled body part.

There are times when a child’s size doesn’t align with their age, which is why it’s a good idea to take your child’s measurements to be sure.

Say we're shopping for a girl who’s 5 years old.

First, and most importantly, we'd want to measure her waist. Using a flexible tape measure, we’ll loop around her natural waistline, keeping the tape comfortably loose and parallel with the ground. Using her belly button as a reference point, we can see her waistline measures 20 3/4”.

Next, we take the hip measurement. We loop around the widest part of the lower body, just below the waistline. Again, be sure to keep the measuring tape parallel with the ground. For her hips, she's a 24.

Next, we’ll measure the chest. We loop around the chest at the widest part, just under the arms. It's a good idea to have the child stand straight, without shoes, breathing calmly and naturally, so to not throw off the measurement. She measures 22 inches.

Finally, when we have all our measurements, it's a good idea to compare them with the child's height and weight. From here, we can assess whether we need to size up or down.

For our 5 year old, she measured 45 inches in height, and 43 lbs. Looking at the chart, you’ll see that her measurements are between a 4/5 and a 6.

To get a comfy fit, that will last her longer as she grows, we would recommend a size 6.

If you’re measuring the inseam for shorts or leggings, this is the length from the top of the inside leg seam, down to the hemline. Keep this in mind if you’re worried about length.

It's just that easy! Keep these measurements handy, and you can rest assured that your little one will be comfy ever after.
