Create the food coloring using natural ingredients. For a green icing color, use 1/8 teaspoon of Imperial Matcha green tea powder combined with one cup of confectioner's sugar and dried egg whites in a small bowl. Stir in two tablespoons of water, 1/2 teaspoon of light corn syrup, and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to give the cookie icing a sweet flavor. Adjust the consistency by adding more water for a thinner homemade icing or more powdered sugar to make it stiffer. Create pink food coloring using red dye or cranberry juice concentrate. Natural food coloring made from vegetables typically creates orange, green, or purple colors, so choose a color that corresponds to the time of year you're decorating in.
