There are plenty of fun things to do in Cambria, but the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve might be one of the best kept secrets along Highway 1. The preserve is accessible from many points along its perimeter, and is home to a network of 17 hiking trails. Take the opportunity to explore hikes that wander through coastal prairie, pine and oak forests, wetlands and more. Not sure which way to go? The more popular routes are the Bluff Trail, Santa Rosa Creek Trail, and Forest Loop Trail, which travels through a 70-acre Monterey Pine forest. Since each trail only explores one small section, linking trails together is highly recommended for those seeking a more robust and varied hike. The adventurous can walk 1.8 miles from the northernmost entrance north along Windsor Boulevard and end up at scenic Moonstone Beach.

Some of the trails are ADA accessible, including the Bluff Trail and the Marine Terrace Trail. They are also family-friendly, stretching just 1.2 miles at most, each path teeming with flora and fauna to explore together. Four-legged friends are also welcome if they are on-leash at all times.

The preserve has dedicated docents who lead monthly nature walks focused on a specific part of the ecosystem here. They also encourage volunteers to join them on their monthly workdays - generally the third Saturday of the month but also most Wednesdays.
